POST SCRIPT TO THE WILL OF GOD
I have recently written something concerning the will of God and prayer. Most of us need to read it! It will put an edge on our prayers and an understanding of what God wants.
The will of God has to do with LIVING SACRAFICE. It is the denial of self and the control of our emotions and finally even our bodies. We do not belong to ourselves. We are the SERVENTS of the Most High God. The servant ALWAYS does for the master before themselves. The servant does not tell the master what to do, the servant will ask the master what his will is. The master cares for the servants and provides for their needs. The servant puts utmost trust in the master and totally relies upon him.
There are many nuances to a balanced life within the will of God. As simple as it seems, it is hard to take the explanation of the will of God from one boundary to the other. This is something that must be sought out daily by each one of us. It is certainly not cut and dry as one might suppose.
Every day when the servant opens his eyes, he first thinks of the master and the masters business. It is the same before he falls asleep at night. This is dedication… also called holiness. A true worshiper, has this fervency and will maintain it because he hungers for it and is satisfied by it. The will of God is meat that the natural man cannot understand nor does he hunger for it. God’s will enters into our mind as we labor to obtain it through daily perseverance in that direction. Discovery is what happens when we trust and value God’s will, waiting patiently for it s perfection to be made manifest.
Balance is the key here: we are all caught in the River of Vanity that carries our natural, everyday lives. In spite of this, we cling to seeking out the will of the father.
There is often the need to make one of several choices. We ask for God to reveal his will in these matters; often he will. Nevertheless, it may happen that it is the will of God to be silent and answer not a word, neither will he give a sign. What do we do then? Patience is always good if the situation allows but sometime we must decide quickly. We have already acknowledged the Lord… so we trust God and make the best decision that we can and proceed. If we can receive this… whatever the result is, that is the will of God! Those of us who walk in this trust, will receive this as his will: good, evil or mediocre.
Also be advised… that the Devil is supposed to get into all that we do in the Lord. Have you ever seen a truly godly situation where the Devil did not show up? The Devil rides some of the “godly” like horses and where they go he goes. Do not be surprised or confused, this happens in all things that God does among us. The Devil was riding Judas the whole time he was with Jesus… waiting for his opportunity to blow up the whole discipleship. The Devil succeeded! Nevertheless, we often win by (what seems to be) losing.
Therefore, the dedicated-holy step over the dead bodies and proceed on knowing that the will of God is working. Expect the Devil and we will not be surprised when he appears. In fact, we should always be looking for him and expecting his manifestation from without as well as within. Do not fear this but do know that it is part of the battle. Do we fight the enemy and expect never to wrestle with him; was there ever a war without traitors and spies? This is also the will of God so let us cease from being long in the face over it and except it as reality and proceed on in the grace and will of the Lord.
